The Road to our World Famous Burgers
Morvant’s began in 1927 by Mr. Bero and his wife Effy. They served burgers and only burgers, served with chips on the side. Candy began working there at 13 years old washing the dishes in the back and over her time the restaurant went through multiple owners. It became available for rent and Candy approached Mrs. Morvant to rent the restaurant but she was turned down for being too young. Candy’s father Elton rented the place from Mrs. Morvant. Elton and his wife Ruby worked at the restaurant for 35+ years. After the acquired the restaurant Mrs. Effy came back to teach Candy the hamburger recipe they established in 1973. This original recipe is still used today.
In 1999 Candy opened an additional location. Morvant’s III in Broussard Louisiana. The restaurants are run by her and her brother , who also boils all the seafood, and her sister runs the food truck.
Their recipes were passed down from decades from successful business in the hamburger industry. Their hamburgers are mixed by hand every morning and cooked to order. The women who have run the restaurant for decades still run it today.
